Download MacAnova for Macintosh OS 8/9

The latest version of MacAnova is 4.13, release 1, dated May 25 2004.

MacAnova for PPC Macintosh requires a PPC processor, including G3 or G4. If you have an old fashioned Macintosh (68000, 68020, 68030 or 68040) you need either MacAnova for 68K Macintosh without math coprocessor or MacAnova for 68020 or better with math coprocessor.

Every thing essential to install MacAnova for Macintosh PPC is in the following file:

  1. MV413ppcAll.1.sea.Hqx, the archive of application and auxiliary files for MacAnova on a PPC, G3 or G4.

MacAnova help you can read in your browser is also available. See below.

Before installing MacAnova you should read Install.txt which describes what you need to do.

You will probably want to read Readme.txt which has some general information about MacAnova and a summary of the features of the Macintosh version.

MacAnova is distributed under the terms of the GNU Public License . Briefly, this says that, although MacAnova is not in the public domain, it may be freely distributed for non-commercial purposes and the source is available.

These files are included in the basic program and auxiliary file archive (item 1 above).

The archive includes files related to user functions, externally compiled programs which are dynamically linked to MacAnova. Unless you are a programmer, you are unlikely to need these files. If you are interested,

Cmd> userfunhelp()

gives a list of help topics related to user functions.

The file downloaded, MV413ppcAll.1.sea.Hqx, is in BinHex 4.0 format. Most browsers will automatically decode it to a self-extracting archive (SEA) file. Installation consists of running (double clicking on) the SEA file, which puts all the included files in a single folder. Some browsers will actually automatically unpack the SEA file, giving you a complete installation in one step. See Install.txt for details.

The MacAnova Reference Manual containing most of the information in the help files is now available in HTML form that can be read in any browser. htmlhelp.sea.Hqx is a binhexed SEA file which will install folder HtmlHelp on your hard disk. After downloading, put an alias to file help.htm in your desk top and you will have easy access to MacAnova help.
