Statistical Consulting Manager

The School of Statistics at the University of Minnesota seeks to hire a Statistical Consulting Manager.
Duties
- Provide leadership for the Statistical Consulting Service, a part of the School of Statistics at the University of Minnesota.
- Provide statistical collaboration to researchers at the University of Minnesota in the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Biological Sciences, the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, and the College of Liberal Arts.
- Supervise School of Statistics graduate students who work in the Statistical Consulting Service.
- Arrange internships for second-year Ph.D. students in the School of Statistics in on-campus labs or off-campus businesses and government.
- Assist faculty in the relevant disciplines with grant proposals to improve the chance of proposal funding. Work toward adding statistics students and faculty to subject-area grants.
- Supervise and organize a program of instruction on the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota of courses relevant to St. Paul researchers. These can be short courses of a few hours on a specific topic, or longer courses offered for credit.
- Appointment as an adjunct professor in the School of Statistics is possible. Teaching and graduate student thesis supervision is possible.
- Prepare annual reports on the activities of the Statistical Consulting Service.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or in a biological science with extensive coursework in statistics.
- Experience with responsibility for statistical consulting and collaboration in a multi-disciplinary setting in education, government or industry. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary.
- Demonstrated interest in statistical problems in animal or plant sciences, ecology, conservation biology, forestry, food science, wildlife, or other related areas.
Description
- Funding guaranteed through 2008-09. Continued indefinite funding expected but not guaranteed.
- Annually renewable contract. Salary dependent on qualifications.
- Starting date is negotiable.
- Full-time, 12 month Professional and Administrative staff position with the official University title of Research Associate or Senior Research Associate, depending on qualifications.
