Welcome!

The International Conference on Bioinformatics will be held at Zhejiang University, HangZhou, China, from June 11 to June 14, 2007. This international conference, co-sponsored by the National Science Foundation, USA, and Zhejiang University, will provide a much-needed venue for interactions among international researchers, particularly those in the US and the pacific region. The conference will be preceded by a two-day workshop, June 9-June 10. We anticipate active intellectual exchanges among researchers, and hope these exchanges may identify common research and educational topics and develop a specific area for further collaboration.

The theme of this conference is on bioinformatics. The intended topics include gene regulation, disease gene mapping, microarray analysis in cancer genomics, signaling networks, comparative genomics, gene variation and diseases, among others.

The conference will be open to all participants. The registration fee will be $100, which includes a half day boat tour on the West Lake, a beautiful area in the south. The conference will be preceded by two days of workshops related to the theme, followed by research presentations and posters. Inquiries should be directed to statconf@stat.umn.edu.

A limited number of travel awards are available for the US pre and postdoctoral students to present at the conference. Applications must be made by April 30, including an extended abstract (up to 3 pages) of the poster and a letter from the student's academic mentor verifying trainee status. Students should be the first author.
