    Applied Statistical Methods
    Fall 2001


    A revision of this course, now called Stat 8051, will be offered in Fall, 2007. Expect revision of the website in late summer, 2007. The new course will use different textbooks from 8061.

    Get get the Fall 2001 final exam here. Get the datasets: lakes.lsp for Windows/Unix/Linux, and for Macintosh, and drugcost.lsp for Windows/Unix/Linux, and for Macintosh.

    This is the first part of a full-year sequence on applied statistical methods for first-year graduate students in statistics. In this semester, we study regression methods particularly for the linear model, regression through graphics, and generalized linear models. In spring semester, you will cover categorical data analysis and experimental design.

    The textbook for this course is Applied Regression Including Computing and Graphics. You may need to download the Arc software from www.stat.umn.edu/arc.

    Some course materials are available in the "Portable Document Format" (PDF), which can be viewed and printed by using Acrobat Reader software. Versions of Acrobat Reader for most computing platforms may obtained for free from Adobe Inc.
