Grading Policy

All the homework is worth a total of 30 points. If you receive 20 or more points on your homework assignments for the semester you will receive full credit and the score of 30. The assignments will be due approximately every week.

Each hour exam is worth 100 points; I will only count the best of your two scores. The final exam is also worth 100 points. Your grade will be determined by the total number of points you receive. (Note the maximum you can receive is 230.)

During the first exam you may bring one 8x11 ``formula sheet'' to the exam with notes written just on one side. For the second exam and final exam you may use both sides of the paper for your notes. The exam is closed book but you will need to bring the book or copies of the tables in the back of the book to the exams. You should also bring a calculator and a photo ID to each exam.

There will be no makeup hour exams. However if you have a legitimate excuse for missing either an hour exam or the final exam you may take a makeup final exam at the end of the semester after the scheduled time for the final exam.

Anyone who is taking the class S/N and who did acceptable work on the first two exams does not have to take the final exam.

In order to receive an I, or incomplete, for the course a student must have, in my opinion, legitimate reasons to justify extending the deadline for course completion and have a "reasonable expectation" of successfully completing the unfinished work on his/her own no later than one year from the last day of classes.
