Materials
and Software

A 1.44MB 3.5 inch diskette. A 'statistical' calculator able to find means and standard deviations is strongly advisable but not essential.
We'll use the MacAnova program package extensively. It is available at nominal cost from the bookstore, can be downloaded from the Web, and is also on the lab computers.

Syllabus

Chapters 1-8, 12-14, omitting some topics.

Handouts

Spare copies of all handouts can be found in the TA office hour room.

Lab Sessions

There will be a weekly computing session held in the IBM PC Lab in COB. Those who prefer Macintosh computers, or who prefer to do the computing on their own computers in their own time, can skip the computing part of this meeting and do the computer work in their own time. During the semester, you can use any of the PC labs freely. Printing however is not free, so if you want to print anything in the lab you will have to buy a 'printing card'.

Assessment

There will be two in-term tests, weekly homeworks, usually consisting of some written material and some work on the computer. There is a final exam. Both tests are open book/open notes; bring calculator and homeworks.

The final grade will be a smooth weighted median of:
Homeworks 40% of the total weight
Midterms 30% of the total weight
Final 30% of the total weight
