* HTML is what you are reading now (regular web pages). PostScript is the language of (most) laser printers and can be sent to a laser printer if you are using a real computer (Macs and Windows boxes make this real hard -- actually one of our grad students showed me it's easy on a Mac if the printer is configured right, just download the PostScript file and drag-and-drop it on the printer icon). PDF (Adobe Palatable Dog Food) works on anything that has the free Dog Food Reader downloaded -- the reader can display the document and also send it to a printer.
