No-cost Statistical Consulting May End in May 2009

The Statistical Consulting Service has lost its primary source of funding to provide open-door statistical consulting to much of the University community. Until May 2009, the consulting service will be available as in previous years with graduate student, faculty and staff consulting. After May 2009, no-cost consulting will be severely limited or possibly not available at all.

If you or your advisor value the help of the Statistical Consulting Service for the research that you do, a way to pay for consulting must be arranged. The best way to do this is to include funding for statistical work in sponsored research. We are eager to talk to you or your advisor at the grant-writing phase of research. Having a committed statistician on your project not only guarantees that high-quality help is available for your work, but this is also likely to increase the chance of funding for your proposed work.

Please contact the Director of the Statistical Consulting Service, Sanford Weisberg, 612-625-8355, sandy@stat.umn.edu for more information.
