Abstract
The National Organizations Survey (NOS) and the General Social
Survey (GSS) gathered data from a nation-wide random sample of
organizations and employees on issues such as employee attitudes,
management-employee relationships, and Human Resource Management
practices. In this Plan B paper I review several important methods of
categorical data analysis such as the proportional odds model and the
uniform association model and demonstrate how to use these methods to
analyze the NOS and GSS data which were gathered through typical Likert
Scale survey questions. My analyses examine and re-examine several
important research questions in the field of organization studies. The
results of my analyses should contribute to the understanding of how
management-employee relationships affect organization performance and
how different individual factors affect job satisfaction in American
organizations.
