LECTURER SERIES
April 10, 11 and 12, 2007
Established by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Martin
in Memory of
Robert J. Buehler, Professor of Statistics (1963-1988)
The talk will
describe the life of Karl Pearson, whose 150th anniversary falls in
2007. He was the founder of statistical science and aspects of
his statistical legacy will be described, but his achievements and
interests were much wider than that, and much of the talk will be
devoted to indicating the scale of his impact on many fields, including
other sciences, social issues, literature and philosophy.
