Abstract
Statistical Process Control (SPC) is the most fundamental and important
method for quality improvement. Among the tools used in SPC, the control
chart takes a key role to reduce the variation by monitoring the process
and finding out the assignable causes.
Understanding theories behind the statistical tools is not easy for users
in industry, especially operators with no knowledge of statistics. In
order to survive, industries strive for quality improvement by training
their employees to use SPC tools. But, in many cases, these SPC tools
appeared complicated and difficult to use.
We developed simple and user-friendly SPC software with Visual C++ for
industrial use. In this talk we will demonstrate some of the tools and
also share ideas on statisticians' role and contribution.
