Abstract
Undergraduate statistics programs are not just the purview of graduate institutions. Statistics programs at four-year liberal arts institutions are becoming more common and play an important role in the future of our profession. Winona State University has had a successful undergraduate statistics program for over a decade. Students from Winona State have taken top honors in each of the four Undergraduate Data Analysis Contests sponsored by the American Statistical Association. Program graduates have also been successful in finding employment with their undergraduate degree as well as continuing their education at the masters and Ph.D. level.

In this presentation, reasons for having undergraduate statistics programs, recommendations concerning curriculum and challenges facing such programs are the focus. Dr. Deppa will be discussing these and other issues in the context of the statistics program at Winona State University.

Sponsored jointly with the Division of Biostatistics.
